Created in 2002, Launch Pad is Canada’s first student-run entrepreneurial incubation center and remains a unique place for student entrepreneurs to start up their businesses in a supportive environment. Clients in Launch Pad are provided with both tangible and intangible resources to assist in the running of their ventures while they are still studying full-time. Tangible resources include office space, a mailing address, a phone line and access to professional meeting rooms. Clients are also provided with legal and accounting services to help with their businesses. One of the most important aspects of Launch Pad is the Business Advisory Board which consists of business professionals and professors with expertise in countless areas including marketing, accounting and business plan development. Each year, in partnership with Cox & Palmer, SIFE Memorial hosts the Launch Pad Innovation Challenge. During this two-stage competition, students with entrepreneurial aspirations present their business ideas to a panel of judges to vie for a year in Launch Pad and $2500 to help start their business.
