Throughout the three-day event, post-secondary students from over 45 universities and colleges across Canada are competing for prestigious national champion titles by showcasing their economic outreach projects and business venture achievements to judging panels composed of top Canadian executives.

The final round of competition on May 11 will be observed by hundreds of delegates and guests and judged by over 40 top Canadian CEOs.

The SIFE Financial Education Challenge is a SIFE team based topic competition operated by ACE. The purpose of this national initiative is to encourage SIFE teams to develop projects that deliver relevant financial education to others in an effort to improve their ability to make informed financial decisions. SIFE Memorial’s team presented work delivered through our  FYI, FLAGS, and Choices.

The TD SIFE Entrepreneurship Challenge is a SIFE team based topic competition operated by ACE and made possible with support from TD Bank Financial Group. The purpose of this national initiative is to encourage SIFE teams to assist aspiring entrepreneurs when considering entrepreneurship as a viable career option and to work directly with local businesses to help improve their operations, profitability, creation of jobs, and on a whole – build a stronger Canadian economy. SIFE Memorial’s team presented work through Based in Business, Launch Pad, Transcontinental Market Research, and Bright Futures.

During the ACE National Exposition, SIFE teams have the opportunity to compete in national topic competitions in the TD Entrepreneurship Challenge, SIFE Financial Education Challenge, and the Scotiabank & SIFE Go Green Challenge.

In order to qualify for these challenges, SIFE Memorial first competed in the ACE Atlantic Exposition in Halifax, this past March. At this event, SIFE Memorial made history, capturing all three regional titles and the opportunity to represent Atlantic Canada in all three national topic competitions on the national stage.

The entire organization is proud that Alexandra’s exemplary leadership and guidance this year has been recognized on a National level.

Aside from the honour of being recognized for her superior leadership and commitment to team development for the 2010-2011 academic year, Alexandra receives $2500 towards her post-secondary studies for the 2011-2012 academic year.

About the ACE Founder’s Bursary…

Funded by The John Dobson Foundation and named after the founder of ACE, Ian Aitken, the Founder’s Bursary Program awards a total of $15,000 to outstanding students for their contributions to their SIFE Program.

The program is split into two bursary opportunities. One bursary is to recognize three students who showcase valuable leadership skills over the past school year. The other is to recognize six students who actively participate in ACE between May and August and create and implement a SIFE project during that time period.

Our team has four teams competing at this event; including our SIFE National Team, and our three ACE Atlantic Regional Exposition Champions in Financial Literacy, Scotiabank & SIFE Go Green Challenge, and TD Entrepreneurship Challenge.
